It's not a ZF trans. I know what they look like. This is a side shift unit.

Could this be the G72/5 or G73/5 that MB made to replace the ZFs. Remember reading somewhere that MB dropped the ZF and made their own 5 speed box around 1969 or so. Imagine this would take some wrestling to get into a 113 since it is not a top shifter as Dan said.
