Thanks Joe - they both came right out. Looks like the forward key has a slight offset.
I am taking the block at some point soon to have it bored and honed. I think that I need to completely strip the block before doing that, and there are a bunch of miscellaneous bolts, etc. that I was curious about.
On the drivers side, I see 2 large hex head bolts (almost like freeze out plugs). I expect that I can leave these installed?
What about the phenolic (?) sleeve that the fuel injection pump installed through? It isn't apparent how that is removed.
Where the horizontal timing gear was, there is a brass/bronze bushing and a 10mm bolt/washer next to it at about the 10 o'clock position (looks like the washer is actually behind the bushing). The bushing has a couple of flats on it but I don't know that I need to remove it? There is another similar bushing behind it (towards the rear of the engine.)
There's a large bolt on the front of the block that is next to the timing pointer bracket. It actually goes through a sleeve in the timing chain cavity, with a hole in the sleeve to apparently provide lubrication. It isn't certain what that is for?
And of course there are the hex head screws for the chain guides.
On the passenger side of the engine, there is the plate, and the cover with the throttle pivot. Those look easy enough to remove. But there is also a 22 mm bolt into the block? Not sure about that.
I can post pictures if that would help.
Thanks very much,
Harry
