Fuel injection pump
« on: February 18, 2019, 11:08:54 »
Help needed.
I just rebuilt the engine of my 250sl. It is mounted on to a specially constructed engine stand. Using the original engine mountings. Full exhaust system, radiator, expansion tank etc attached.  I started the engine. To my luck it fired the first time.
While I am at it, I would like to get the FIP serviced.
I am based in the UK. Does anyone know a good Bosch service centre in UK. Perhaps you had yours serviced.
I would be grateful for any replies.

Hi Bali ,

Since you are in England not far From Germany I would highly recommed www.koller.de Mobil number +49 1723442206  rainer stahl , they are the specialised , you might have to pay little bid more but you will get perfect job and don’t risked with any local Garags .

I shipped my part from Kuwait to them .

Good luck

On the other hand ... if your FI pump is working fine, you may want to leave well enough alone. Some stories here of how pump rebuilds including by reputable shops resulted in new headaches.

Bali,

Tower Bridge Diesels have been rebuilding Bosch pumps for decades. The owner is called Fred Pentacost. Look them up on the internet, they are based in Lincolnshire.

Many thanks to Peter, Cees and Taleb for your help. As Peter  suggested l managed to get the contact of Tower Bridge Diesels. Review are very good.
As mentioned earlier I started the overhauled engine last week. Sounded good.
But the no. 2 cylinder doesn’t fire. Tried with a new plug as well. Checked with a different HT lead. Compression is very good.
Could this be a defective injector I wonder.
Any suggestions how to check the
injector.

Bali,

Did you remove No2 plug to check for unburned fuel?

Swap out the #2 injector to an other cylinder and see if the problem follows.
