White wall tires

Just finishing up a rebuild and need to buy tires. Thinking about 195/R70s but would like white walls. Would appreciate any feedback.

I continue to like the look of my Coker white walls purchased over five years ago.  Would do again.

LJHAMILTON, I went with Maxxis 19575R14 the last time I changed about two years ago.  I am well satisfied with looks and performance. See Here:

Palm Beach Classics also offers a whitewall in that size.  It’s actually a Uniroyal Tiger Paw.  It looks good and the performance is fine.
If you really want authentic, then you’ll have to purchase from Europe.  Oldtimer Riefen in Germany has the correct Michelin MXV in a 20mm whitewall but it is expensive.
Coker has the MXV but only in blackwall.

I'm with Rich in appreciating the original look, including the raised sidewall rub strip, of the Coker reproduction Phoenix white walls.  They are quiet and handle well in the mountains.  As they look great on his car, I am glad that Ralph is pleased with his Maxxis white walls, which are also available through Coker Tire at about 1/3 the price of their Phoenix repros.

I just received an e-mail from Coker the day before yesterday advertising their White Wall sale ending March 15th.  It also bears mentioning that Coker offers a 10% discount to Hagerty members. (I am not affiliated with Coker Tire, just buy tires from them, including a set of XZXs for my '54 M.G.TF just last month!)

Many thanks for the prompt and informative replies. I was naive in undertaking such a complex project but feel confident that I will finally be able to drive the car in late Spring. Once again the forum was a source of good advice. I went with the Maxxis and appreciate the heads up on the Hagerty discount of $50. Larry

I bought Uniroyal Tiger Paw white walls recently and the white walls have brown discoloration defects.  Uniroyal would not honor any warranty for these tires.   I would not recommend Tiger Paws.

Had the same problem a 2 years ago as Fresno Bob, Uniroyal would not refund tires completely, gave me a partial credit.  I would not recommend them.

I have tried many of them. Hankook makes a great whitewall in our size for less than $200. Hankook Optimo  h724.

Ots a newer tech tire that does really well, especially compared to the old tech Uniroyals.
