Found In The Trunk Of My 1967 250SL

It all started here: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=29220.0.

I went through the trunk today and inside the spare tire cover I found the following:



A couple of the wrenches are missing; 2 are marked "Matador Western Germany" and 1 is marked "Dowidat Made In Germany". I'm not sure which ones are original to the car.

I think a pair of slip joint pliers are also missing

The case is a red vinyl material in just OK condition




A couple of maps showing the different Mercedes Service Centers around the world

Blaupunkt owners manuals

A metal tag embossed (letters are reversed and backwards) with the car information

A "How To" for using the metal stud when changing a tire

Nice original tool kit! As you mention, some items are not there.

My docs included Blaupunkt manuals, but my Blaupunkt was some '80s cassette player, so I tossed it.

DOn't know what to do w/the manuals.

Nice bonus, these items are bringing good money these days. The original wooden handled screwdriver seems to be in especially good condition.

Hi teahead, the  Blaupunkt  you tossed  if they were  model  Monterey they are worth
money,especially  for Porsche, 911 ---One of the best user friendly radios out there, regards .

You need the pliers, fuse pulling pliers and the fuse kit.   The fuse pullers and fise kit are available from Authentic Classics.  I believe you can get the pliers from them as well but the current version is not stamped with the MB star logo.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the wrenches as long as they all from the same manufacturer. Usually a bunch on eBay as individual wrenches.

Your VIN is within shouting distance of mine (1344)!

Would you look at the owner's manual, on the back page there should be a part number -113 584 XX 96, what are the XX digits in the manual you have? What is the date - this is also on the back page with the format similar to 3.67 (or reversed).

Does the power plug for the round spotlight fit in the lug on the firewall? It appears to be larger. That is not what was available at the time and appears it would be for the cigarette lighter.

Manual:

The back cover (outside) of the owner's manual has 113 584 09 96 and no date

The last page has "KTDF IV. 67. 6. Hg. Printed in Germany"

Spotlight:

The plug as show in the picture fits into the socket of the firewall.

The adapter (or cap) as shown in the picture when fitted onto the small spotlight plug then fits the cigarette lighter receptacle.

If one went to one´s dealer in the 1960´s (and later) with intent to buy a plug in lamp for the engine bay of the Pagoda, this is what they would supply you with. A so called "Kaco" trouble light with a very long wire and the light unit has a clamp.
Note the bakelite plug; this fits into the socket fitting on the firewall

Thanks for the information on the date 6.67 and part number.

As Hans has written the in period trouble light is the Kaco. There was a spotlight available also, intended to be mounted on the windshield. I had never seen the compact circular one you had posted.

I have a 1967 230S in right now and the owner uses it for vintage rally events. He has some neat stuff inside the car but he also has one of those vacuum operated spot lights that stick to the windshield. I saw one on a 190SL once and knew at once what it was but I'm also sure it's a rare piece.

There were two manufacturers for this, Hella and Helphos.    A couple of pictures attached

This one is a Helphos. Black or dark gray and does have a chrome ring around the light.
