Hello everyone.
I am not sure that is right place to ask about that.
We are restoring 250Sl Pagoda 1967. Vin number is 113.043-10-005144. This car have not original engine. The engine-block is without number and number plate. Certainly it is 250 M129. The problem is that the crankshaft is broken. See photo please. I have problem to identifying crankshaft and finding with identical number, also i have no idea what crankshaft i can use in this engine-block.
Can you help me witch this?
Best regards,
Michal Sieron

Hello Michael,
Bad luck ... uhhh!
If your crank is really broken you need another one.
The cranks of all 250 SE engines are the same.
There's a parts number on your crank, do you see that one?
It says R1080311601. That's the (factory) cast number, not necessarily the real MB parts number for ordering.
Very easy here ...
just look for another (donor) crankshaft that has the same cast number.
All 250 SE (and SL of course) cranks are identical I assume,
the ones from the 250 S (carburettor) should be the same as well (yes, they are...; just checked that!).
Maybe even the ones from the early 250/8 W114 with M114 engines ... I would check (just checked... na.., doesn't seem to be so).
Make sure that you balance "the new one" properly with your flywheels you intend to use.
Good luck

Yes use that #1080311601 casting number on your crank shaft to get the correct replacement.

Michal, sellers often mislabel parts, not knowing what they actually have. Ask the seller to send you a picture of the crank with the casting number displayed. Then you will know for sure.

It is very difficult to contact with this seller. He gave me this number 1080310307. But the question is, can I use that crankshaft in my engine?
