how i was able to install the hand brake rubber boot
« on: July 14, 2019, 18:00:45 »
after several failed attempts to install the rubber boot for the handbrake onto the chassis i broke down
and made a cone out of a soda bottle with a tab on it.  (picture 1)

i left a plastic tab on the underside of the large end of the cone as a place to grab with a pliers
and
the top side i left a slit so the cone could be pulled toward the front of the car.  the slit allows the cone to open up and pass over the attachment point.  (photo 2 which i borrowed from another post on this site)

used some warm water to soften the rubber boot which i slide the boot over the small of the cone
positioned the large end over where the boot would connect to the chassis and slid the boot into place

from there i held the boot in position with the palm of one hand and with the other i grabbed the tab i left on the cone
and carefully pulled on the tab with a pliers and pushed gently on the boot and the cone slid out toward the front of the car
and the boot was installed!

took about 2 minutes tops.
