123 Series 5 speed box in a Pagoda ?
« on: June 19, 2019, 13:59:54 »
Hi Guys,
WHas anyone tried fitting a 123 Series 5 speed box in a Pagoda?  This transmission has the gear lever controls on the left and I am concerned that the tunnel might be too narrow.
Any ideas?
Regards
Chris

I'm thinking that you need a top loaded transmission.

Thanks Gents.
I have just found a 265/6 Getrag in Cape Town. Will pick it up over the weekend.
Now I need Mark to clear his inbox, on order for me to purchase his Getrag kit.

Chris

If your Getrag doesn't have a speedometer cable drive you will have to use an electronic drive of some sort.  The cable drive from BMW is no longer available.

When i fitted a Getrag to my earlier Pagoda, it had an electronic speedo output and i had to get an electronic to cable drive unit.  It was quite expensive but BMW was able to supply.

Try to find an old 80-81 BMW 528i w/a 5-speed.  Has the mechanical speedo gear.

Found a running beater for $400.   Of course, snagged the trans and the banana intake to put in my E9.
