Differential input shaft seal replacement
«

Hi all,
Just looking at replacing the input shaft seal on my differential. Would it be best to make a special tool to allow me to push the old one out? Seating on the flat surface? I have already scrapped one seal. I tried using the new seal to push the old seal out (no joy on that one). Looking at it I think an appropriate piece of tube or large diameter round bar bored out would do the trick.
Another seal on order

Do you have the end cap of the differential? If so you can use a socket (from your tool set) to press or drive the old seal out. You can press the new one in with your bench vice and flat plate.

Good idea for removing the old one, just need to wait for new to arrive.
Cheers.
