Need Help in Locating Rubber Mounts and Bushings
« on: December 13, 2019, 02:45:08 »

I’ve owned my 230SL since March of 1989.  It started life in France but was shipped to the USA sometime in the 70’s.  I’m possibly the third owner.  The VIN is 11304210014075 and it is all original except for the distributor.  When I bought the car, the odometer (in kilometers) read 16827.  Since buying the car in 1989, I’ve driven it very little and the odometer now reads 83270.  That’s only 2,200 kilometers a year.

All rubber suspension and engine mounts and bushings need replacing and I need help in locating the appropriate parts.  The car has a W113 chassis and is a manual 4-speed transmission.  Any help in locating and purchasing the following parts would be greatly appreciated.

Front subframe mount repair kit (4 points)
Rear subframe mount repair kit (4 points?)
Engine mounts (2)
Front upper control arms (2)
Front lower control arm bushings (4)
Front eccentric bolt kits (4)
Lower ball joints (2)
Sway bar link kits (2)
Sway bar bushings (2)
Transmission mount
Steering gear box mount
Front shocks (2)
Front inner wheel bearings (2)
Front outer wheel bearings (2)
Front wheel seals (2)

The parts you are looking for are available from MB.
I would not purchase these parts from aftermarket sources, they may not be the quality needed.
Good luck, Urban

Well, MB parts are certainly the safe way to go if money is no subject and you don’t want to take any chances.
However, I am currently rebuilding my front end as well and I shopped quite a bit around to see pricing and manufactures. Personally, I wouldn’t buy for example: shocks, front bearing sets and other common wear parts from MB simply because of their price. (Certain rubber parts I will buy from MB because the aftermarket parts don’t show the quality as discuss here in the forum)

For example: Just bought new King Pin rebuild kits from RMeuropean,
https://www.rmeuropean.com/Products/1115860033-MFG36-V8736.aspx
These are FEBI /Bilstein parts and measure exactly to the dimensions given in the “Tabellenbuch”.
Are the MB parts any better? I don’t know.

Other common sides I use for standard wear parts (brakes….) are:

 And more.
