Horn wont shut off
« on: April 09, 2020, 00:15:17 »
hello group,
recently when doing a right hand turn my horn started sounding and wouldnt turn off. I had to disconnect the horn to return home.
Has anyone experienced a similar failure?
I'm hoping someone can suggest where I should start looking ? Is there a wire loom running through the steering  column which might be grounding, and if so where is it accessible?
Any pointers would be appreciated!
thanks.

Sorry Melbournian,

I missed your earlier follow on post re horn.

In my case, I took the fuse out and then gave it to the Auto electrician to sort out as I believe you need to access the bottom of the steering shaft from under the car and I didnt have a hoist to get under at that point.

well..one of those rare occasions when the fix was simple. I removed the steering wheel and found that the large spring ring that holds the horn switch in position had dislodged and was shorting out the two terminals on the switch.  Now I have to investigate why only one horn is operating.
