Better yet, you can now buy a brand new BBB on the MB site.  I just picked up a new version to replace an old worn out one. I got it last week just three days after ordering it.

You need to be careful to find the one that is right for your car.  I have a BBB and it does not cover the 280SL - published too early.  The "Technical Data Books" listed by that eBay seller have lots of data in them, like torque ratings for bolts, fluid capacities, and more, but they are not the BBB and don't have any maintenance/repair instructions.

Does the Service Manual from MBUSA incorporate the BBB for the early cars (i.e. Passenger Cars from 1959)?  The description on the website inplies it is the later manual (1968 on - the /8 cars).  You sort of need both.  For instance, I find the later manual more clear regarding the FI system.  The Technical Data books are handy.  I have a 1963 and a 1969 edition.  Those two cover the entire W113 series, but I don't see those editions very often and MBUSA doesn't seem to sell them anymore.

Vince, the printed "1968-on" manual does not include the information from the "1959-on" manual. As an example, the repair that so many owners love to hate, heater levers, is only in the 1959 version. However, the CD version contains both on one CD.

OK, now I'm confused.   I have all the books noted below on MBUSA site that kgear indicated, but I don't have part numbers.   Am I misunderstanding what the BBB provides?   Is the Big Blue Book really not blue?   I know I grew up in Alabama and am therefore somewhat slow, but now I'm really confused.

Note on that MBUSA web site that it says something about "product may not appear as pictured" or something.  Basically, they use the same picture of the same manuals for all the different items for sale.

There was an early one called "Passenger cars starting 1959" that covered up to about 1967 or so.  The second one mentioned below by Klaus is "... starting 1968".  Along with the correct Service Manual, you should get the correct Spare Parts List, which is the parts manual with all the MB part numbers and exploded diagrams.  The Technical Data Booklet is also very useful.  If you're so inclined, I believe MB also printed Transmission Repair manuals and more.

Haynes is a very commonly used manual - it covers 230, 250, 280 models of sedan, coupe, roadster.

I think it is best to have both the BBBs.  There is quite a bit of info in the earlier manual that just isn't addressed in the 1968-on manual.  I think M-B assumed the technician would have both, so they did not repeat everything.  Dis-assembly of the hardtop is an example.
