Moving to Washington, DC

Hi All,

After nearly 13 years as an expat in Europe, I'm moving soon to the Washington, DC, area and would enjoy meeting up and getting to know any other Pagoda owners in the area.

My Pagoda will remain in storage in the Netherlands until after the Germany trip next fall. Then I will ship it back home to the USA.

In the meantime, I'll have my '97 SL 500 daily driver shipped back home, which leads to a few questions:

     --Any suggestions for a good independent M-B mechanic in the area (Maryland, Virginia, DC)?

     --Any regular Cars & Coffee events in the area? Who organizes them?

I did a quick Google search of cars and coffee events in the area and there are a few general ones starting in March. If anyone knows of any M-B owners who get together, please let me know.

Best of luck with the move and transition Brian! I know from having done this a few times after long stints overseas that it takes a bit of time to sort out tools, appliances, household, etc., due to different electrical needs.  Also takes time to get accustomed to the funny looks you get when you ask how much a postage stamp costs or something similar.  It all sorts out after awhile.  Welcome home 🇺🇸 and happy motoring!

Wow, not much of a welcome from the DC area contingent. Brian, welcome to the DC area. There are a bunch of us in Maryland and Virginia (I happen to be south of the city in Lorton, VA). You might want to check out https://gws.mbca.org/
Someone else may chime in with better details but in the spring there is a German car show at Nottoway park. Its west out 66 one stop outside the beltway. In the summer there's a picnic - I haven't been in several years but at one time it was held at a very nice privately owned estate off River Road in Maryland. These events usually show up at the gws.mbca site. 

Welcome again - we really are a good bunch, maybe everyone just got busy over the holidays.

Too bad you were an expat during the Pub-Virginia in 2017. Everyone from DC area and surrounding areas was there, and you could have met them all in one fell swoop.

I think Lee hit it right on the head:  We've been traveling so much during the holidays visiting elderly parents and new grand nephews that I didn't really pay too much attention to the forums until after the 12th day of Christmas.

In addition to the Deutsche Marque event at Nottoway Park in Vienna on the first weekend of May, there is a regular Saturday morning Cars & Coffee up at the Old Brogue Irish Pub & Katie's Coffee House in Great Falls starting in the spring and running through the fall.  It's pretty informal: cars start filtering in around 7am and everybody is wheels up by about 9AM.

When you get to town and are settled in send me a PM.  It'll give us all an excuse to get together to welcome you properly!
