Estimated retail value 109K

Bid is up to $375

I don't know. It has an aftermarket radio and steering wheel. I think I will pass.

However, I am pretty close to where it is located. Hmm!

I agree John - it would be interesting to see  what caused the accident - were they hit in the rear first (and what with to cause such  precise damage) then pushed into something?? - guess we will never know. Any crash scene investigators out there?

Now that’s what I call a ‘bad day in the office’!!!

Seems very peculiar accident damage, looks like it met a street light (on large stem posts in the UK) and then wrapped itself around something on the near side before catching fire!!  Not much more could have gone wrong! Let’s hope whoever as it the car at the time, was ok

Silly question
Why do they believe it’s worth $109,000? I don’t believe there is that many ‘useable’ spares left that would come to that value (not sure if there are auction fees on top) and then you have transport costs?

I think $109,900 is their (irrelevant) estimate of what a good one is worth.

Door parts, dash pieces, seats and possible soft top frame.  Yeah, I'd pay 400 for it.

The engine is mostly junk but could have some useful pieces. It's listed as an auto but is actually standard.

The fire is a bit curious - boot burnt, engine burnt and the middle is comparatively un-touched - did it travel from one to the other via the soft top?

Since the soft top cover is down and burnt/rusted, it doesn't appear that the soft top was up during the accident. My guess is that once the fire started from the rear, assuming the hit disconnected connections to the gas tank, that it followed to any location that had fuel - up to the front.

That car was ass-ended and pushed into another car. The fire started in the engine bay and spread to the back after the fuel tank was ruptured. It's a parts car as long as you don't pay too much for it. Shipping could easily be more than it sells for.

Now that makes more sense!! I’m aware spares are expensive, but as Benz Dr says, engine in toast!! Excuse the pun

Still curious to know how the poor car sustained such weird impact points, especially at the rear!! Going down a steep bank backwards perhaps and hitting a large vertical object (tree, lamp post etc) which maybe then spun it around onto another upright object hitting the front near side panel?

Strange how the front near side wing is buckled in so far, yet wheel still looks relatively ok? Would have though suspension and when would be broken given how far the panel has been pushed in

It’s great all this speculation we’re having. We could be scenes of crime detectives 🤣🤣
Would be good if we could find out the story behind how such a lovely car came to be in this state

Just looked at the pictures again. It even has the elusive "fan shroud". Some guys on BaT would get all wet in the armpits.
You give me the car for $400.- and I guarantee I make a 1000% profit parting it out!

So why don’t you buy it Mike? You only have to go to Chicago to pick it up with a trailer. Actually not a bad drive for DR Benz either.

I bought a 220SE Cab. in Lake Bluff about 20 years back so it's a day's drive from me.  It might as well be on the far side of the planet though because I'm not going to be able to cross the border any time soon.
