Temperature gauge engine probe - washer or gasket?

Hi all,
I got my temperature gauge/probe/cable back from Palo Alto Speedometer and I've re-installed it in the center instrument cluster. I've threaded the cable back through the firewall into the engine bay, but before re-connecting the probe to the engine, is there a gasket or washer between the probe and the opening? PASpeedo didn't include one, and I don't recall seeing one when I removed it.

There is no gasket between the capillary tube and the fitting it screws into, as it's a tapered compression fit.  However, there is a crush washer between the cylinder head and the fitting that the capillary tube screws into.

Unless it's leaking or has been removed I wouldn't worry about it, but the saying "While you're in Rome" comes to mind......
