Early versus late

Could any gurus tell me what is the first production number  of a 250SL that is considered “late” versus “early”?

All the big changes for the 250 SL occurred at VIN ending 2980. These were to meet the US DOT safety standards. If you take a look at Pagoda Notes Vol 10 No 4 it has the full listing (originally published by Frank Mallory, and used with permission)
