radiator hose question
« on: October 07, 2006, 14:18:15 »
I am in the process of replacing all the hoses in my 230 sl.

I am having trouble getting the short hose between the thermostat housing and the water pump body off.

do I need to remove the thermostat housing to get this off?  If so, it appears there are only 2 bolts holding the housing on

is this correct?

thanks in adavance

Matt,

I replaced mine.  I cut the old one off.  To install the new one, I sprayed it with some silicon spray and sort of bent it, while slipping it on.  Not easy, but this worked for me.
Good Luck!

hmm, thanks for the response,  i guess I should have waited.

while trying to get the hose off, I unbolted the housing from the motor and ever so slightly separated the housing from the motor.

I wonder if I should get a new gasket for mounting the housing to the motor before I install the new hose?

thoughts?

Sounds like a good assumption.
