Blistein Install
« on: June 02, 2020, 01:51:23 »
I have a rattle when hitting some bumps and sinceI replaced the front shocks, I wonder if I might have not tightened them down enough.  What is the correct procedure,  please?

What is the condition of your subframe mounts?

The upper nuts are tightened until the upper rubber compresses and the nut bottoms-out. Make sure one  rubber is above and one below the metal mounting. The lower rubber is under the rubber boot.  Double check the lower nuts are snug.

Sub-frame mounts also new.  I thought about whether I tightened those enough as well but I think so.  I'll check the nuts on the shocks but I don't remember any bottoming out.

Harry,
An experience that happened to me.

I had some work on my car done and when i got it back i kept having this rattle in the front right going over rough road. Tried everything with the wheel, shocks and any other thing i could think about until one day on a hoist i. noticed the bracket on my radiator on RH side had broken and it could be rattled. Fixed problem.

Just something to check as it took me 6 months to find the problem.

I tightened the front shocks down until the nut "bottomed out", and this is the tightened position.  Does that look as should be expected?

be careful when you close the bonnet it can be hit by the height of the shocks...

Yes, perfect assembly.
From factory, there was a nut and counter locknut fitted. The Nyloc you used is perhaps more convenient
