Help! Different part needed: parts car out there?
« on: March 22, 2005, 11:48:15 »
I saw the other post hoping that someone here has a parts car, well I'm in the same boat since the part I need isn't really 'for sale' in anybody's catalog, and I'm looking at making one unless someone has a parts car and can sell me the dash padded strip that goes under the radio from the steering column to the glove box.

It would almost seem worth it for us to group buy one of those unsalvagable pagodas they have at gullwingmotors to 'share' as a parts car for the group. If we were a local club, I could see doing that, but the logistics of doing it over the internet, well, that could be tricky.

Well, anyway... does somebody know where I could get an under dash pad thingee? I'm pretty sure it'll have to come from somebody's parts car, otherwise, I guess I'll be making one out of wood/foam/vinyl. Thoughts? Help?

Thanks!

Update: my car was taken apart into a thousand pieces for restoration, and when we put it back together my shop (careful to keep everything in organized bins) found only 999 parts left! Doh!

So I asked them to look and look again. And it was also in a second shop so I asked them to look too. Nobody found it, then I started my unenviable search for a replacement (of course the missing part isn't something simple like a nut or a steering wheel), and Dan had a couple, but thankfully, my shop called back to say the finally found (ie. 'remembered') where it was. It was too long (almost 3' I think) to fit in the bins so someone put it up on a shelf!

Well, all's well that ends well. Thanks to all who responded.
