W111 seat slide rear covers

Another obscure part for the W111. Attached is a template to make the covers that fit onto the seat slides in the rear (as seen by back seat passengers). Most of the time, these are thrown off whenever a seat is removed never to be found again. I had to make my own since these are long gone. I used a set from a W108 to start. They are different, but can be used to get an idea of how it works. The W108 pieces are plastic and usually covered in vinyl or what ever the seat was. The W111s were covered in seat leather. I am not sure when they started or ended the use of the covers, but they can be seen on EPC. There are (4) part numbers - 108 919 (09,10,19,20) 20.

The attached will work for all four, you just have to reverse one set to fit. I made mine out of this sheet metal because it was easier for me. Once I get these covered in leather, I will post what they look like.

Wallace, I'm pretty certain that these were't ever covered in anything whether they were on a W108/W109 or a W111/W112 coupe` or cabriolet.  The only car I've ever seen that had these covered in anything is on a 600.

I have a friend who has a pristine W108 280SE and he commented that his are covered in seat vinyl. I will have to go back and check that. His is a Later year like ‘71 I think.

Interestingly, the ones I bought used from a W108, had no evidence of being covered. So Aaron may be correct. I am surprised anybody knows anything about these and I only discovered it by finding the picture on the EPC and asking the classic center what the part was. I have to cover mine because they are sheet metal and not as pretty as the molded plastic.

Obscure for sure just like the rubber band and clips that make the chrome seat slide cover on the front retract and move with the seat adjustment.

Many people on this site have done projects like this and it is good to share. Might as well help other fellow restorers. I will take pictures of the ugly ducklings before they are covered.

I can take pictures of what the covers look like before install. My seats are currently out along with the slides. I have not covered the covers yet either. When I get that done (soon), I will post a few pics.

I need to correct the post above. It appears that only a very few cars had these covers with leather material on them. Aaron is correct. My statement about the person with a 280SE W108 with material on the slide covers is incorrect. He said his are bare plastic.

Mine are to be covered because they are metal and not very attractive the way they are.

Finally put the cognac leather on the seat track covers. They look so good, I almost hate to put them on. The originals as Aaron pointed out, are brown plastic and are not covered. Since I made mine from sheet metal, I needed to cover mine and so I did.
