Finally, I got my SL

Finally, I got my Pagoda yesterday.       [:p] :|  :mrgreen:  :oops:  
280 SL 1969,Auto tranny, Signal Red, AC,80k miles.
I have a huge list of cosmetic things to do on it. The main thing is changing the entire interior(seat cover, carpet, wood, dash panels.
I started to dismantle the dash. How do I lower the A/C in order to remove the bottom panels? It drove me nuts last night. Do I have to take it into an A/C guy. I don't want to remove it completly. Help, I did search it on this site but didn't come up with anything.

  Welcome to the club. I hope you get to ride under some cherry blossoms before you take it apart.
  Lowering the a/c so yu can dismantle the dash is very easy. There are plugs on the bottom of the a/c unit. The plugs conceal screws or nuts that hold the unit onto the dash. The unit can be lowered by working through the plug holes but, it is much easier if you also remove the vent slats. The vent slat are held in place by pastic pieces which extend into the housing on each side of the vent slats. If you carefully slide a flat object along the side of the vent fins you can release the slats and remoce them. Then you will be able to see the nuts or bolts that are holding the a/c in place. I removed the a/c the first time without removing the vent fins. I wish someone had told me how easily they come out and how much easier the job can be.
