I have some bad news.  The machinist has started restoring a truck and is taking up most of his time.  I'll let everyone know when the time comes.  I will also try to find another shop in the meantime.

Thanks!

Do any of our detail experts know if:

1. All W113 came with square edge tips?
2. If not, when did the production change?
3. I've seen OEM in boxes with the rounded edges.

So, when is the square edge called for in terms of accuracy?

When I started working on Pagodas they were still in production (280 SLs). I remember seeing the original exhausts with the "square tips". I cannot say for certain that all years of production used them? The round version became the standard replacement from Mercedes some years later.

With all this interest on square vs round edge exhaust tips I was wondering if anyone could identify what vehicle this is from. I thought it might be vintage Mercedes or Porsche but have not found any evidence. Definitely not W113 - too large ID.  The ID is 55 MM (<2-3/16") and it is 144 MM long (<5-11/16")

I found something similar a few years back. The diameter was too large for the Pagoda. I gave it to a friend of mine who said it would work for a 6.3 sedan of the era.

Hauser:
Jonny B once informed me that his grandfather spelled his name without the H.
So Jon kept it the same.
So keep that in mind, It is Jonny not Johnny.
