door handle rubber pads... WEIRD!
« on: December 31, 2020, 22:19:34 »

I am re-fitting newly chromed door handles. The rubber pads that sit between the handle and the door body have a thick and a thin side. Through trial an error I am convinced that the thick part should be on top... (if not the doorhandle is not horizontal). HOWEVER... The rubber pads have markings 'left' and 'right'... and if you apply them that way, the thin part is on top.

I can just not believe that these pads have incorrect markings, left and right. Also on the original pads! Anybody here who can explain this please?

Happy New Year!

Hi Jan,

Happy New Year.

I went through the same confusion a little while ago and came to the conclusion that the thick side is on top. See

Yes, Jan...,

That's correct so.
Allt these rubber pads carry 111 parts numbers ...
and although I think those should be oriented on a W111 C in the same way as on a W113,
nevertheless, your/our observation is absolutely correct.
So, don't worry,  just use them.

Good luck!

Best,
Achim

I'm pretty sure they are the other way around on my 111.
