Do you no longer need a "Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung" from the car manufacturer or the wheel manufacturer to get it recorded in your car papers?

The 15 inch tires are entered in the papers.
It is not necessary for the spare wheel.

Must admit I’m totally confused
I’ve never known an MOT centre, UK, to check spare tyres, other than you have one with some tread!
I guess different countries have different legislation.
My BMW has no spare at all, so surely something is better than nothing 😁

A lot of OEMs are doing away with spare wheels. My Audi has a compressor instead. That works fine with a simple flat tire, but not with a major blowout. I have always despised even the economy spare with the speed limit.

My BMW has silly run flats which they also provide a can of foam just to really mess up the tyre so can’t be repaired afterwards even if it may have been beforehand!
 As you say Simon, if you have a big blow out or damaged the wheel itself, you are rather stuck until a recovery vehicle arrives 10hrs later!!

I still don’t understand however, why there is a question over Peter using the collapsible tyre though, given MB use this style of spare tyre as standard in many of their cars (albeit I’m not sure if this is still their practice?)

Yes, once the foam has been filled in it is very difficult to save in tires later.
With the 15 inch rims it is no problem to find a cheap replacement tire, they are modern dimensions.
Since I can't get the original 15 inch in the trunk, the folding tire makes sense for me.
