Floppy visor
« on: March 13, 2023, 16:59:27 »
Anyone have any tricks on how to fix a floppy sun visor., actually two. The Tech Manual has information on rebuilding or remaking visors but my visors are "new." The brackets , I believe are original to the car.

Ideas anyone?

John,

I have had the same problem with the passenger visor.

The small sleeve that wraps around the shaft in the visor for some reason doesn’t grip the shaft when the screw is tightened to bring the two halves together.

I inserted a small piece of metal rod between the original shaft and the encircling metal to give it more grip and then tightened it with some success.

Thanks for that tip Garry - I have exactly the same issue with passenger visor (for RHD cars). Drivers side has never had an issue. Both of mine are brand new visors with new clips.

Frank,

As a matter of interest where did you get your rhd visors from. I purchased new ones but lhd ones were delivered and after the cost of getting them i have not been prepared to pay another $500 to start again. The new ones also had the slip problem.

Hi Garry
I bought mine from a member based in UK. He did a batch of repro sunvisors many years back.
Quality is spot on.
Will see if I can dig up the details
