Fuelpump mounting differences.
« on: February 15, 2021, 21:02:33 »
So now having rebuilt over 250 probably closing in on 300 short fuelpumps I am starting to broaden my horizons. My first question being I've noticed that there are four different types of fuel pump mounts can someone tell me what the difference is and which ones are to be used with what models? Here I have the Horseshoe marked #1 which is the most common. I have this cross marked #2 which I notice is used in my 1971 280sl. I have a short two-piece Mount that is marked #3 and finally I have a long two piece Mount #4 although I am missing one of the pieces and I don't feel like trudging out in -10 degree temperatures to find one but you get the idea it is just a longer version of number 3 maybe somebody who has worked on these can shed some light for me. I know that these also have something to do with the different cans that protect the fuel pump. Thank you for your help Bob

I thought it was well illustrated here: https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-230-280sl-w113-47-fuel-tank-c-3_76

I have not seen those triangle-like pieces but then I found them here, under SE types: https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-w111-w108-w114-47el-pump-fuel-supply-se-types-c-5_225

Don't know if it helps but my car is a 1972 280 SE sedan. It has number 4 in your picture and it has another that looks like #4 but only half.
