cold start nozzle
« on: March 08, 2021, 16:05:11 »
Dear all,

The restoration of our 230SL continue with engine rebuilt.
would you help me with part number of the part in red line?
This is some filter (inside with steel net) attached to cold start nozzle.
The net is complete clogged and we can not clear it without damage.
I don't now how important is this net/steal filter inside...

Best Regards

Ivan

It is a fine metal screen inside the fitting. It keeps the nozzle on the CSV from getting clogged. You can clean the screen/fitting in a heated ultrasonic cleaning tank with plain rubbing alcohol as the cleaning solvent. Afterward blow clear with compressed air.  If you do not have access to this equipment, then soak it in rubbing alcohol and blow clear with compressed air. You will also need to check and/or clean the spray nozzle.

Thanks Peter, yes #92 on their diagram, but try cleaning it first and save 76 Euros!

I had to do the same last year, albeit on a 280SL, but same deal. Cleaned every part, changed the o-ring, worked like a charm. I had to pull out the nozzle, as there was gunk at the bottom of the main channel that would not wash away, even in the ultrasound cleaner (thanks to Benz Dr., who provided the tip that the nozzle actually pulls out of the CSV).
