Now tell me please, do any new MBs come with inflatable tires and a spare ? Maybe Gs ?
I am driving a loaner from the MB dealer, a GLB 250 with run flats and what a racket they make and what a hard and loud ride they produce. I don't like at all.
My ML 250 Bluetec was recalled for emissions so MB is altering the emissions somehow and paying me $3900 as compensation ( the paperwork says).
I wish diesels would make a comeback, but not likely.

I’m not a fan of run flats, but I got to a point where I was even willing to put them on my Jaguar F-Type when the potholes on one of our local expressways got unbearable. 

But, good news...after spending $153million, the state has fixed the expressway and I’m not using run flats now.

My Z4 has run flats but I don’t believe that this causes most of the road noise, more that they are as thin as a rubber band!,😂

Much as Chris and having run flats due to pot holes, the UK has so many our roads are one big pothole!!only roads that have less of the damn things are the motorways, that’s probably because they spend most of their time digging it up! And don’t get me started with the road noise that comes from concrete road surfaces!, 🤬🤬🤬

I am a fan of custom wheels and tires. I run aftermarket wheels and different tire sizes on several of my cars. No run flats for me.

When I was ordering the GLE for my wife, it could come on regular tires, run flats or silent tires (as part of additional sound dampening package). You could order a spare wheel or leave it with a repair set.

My wife is a fan of runflats as they are firmer/harder a bit and offer more security. Never any issues with excess noise.

My wife’s E450 wagon has factory run flats on it. We have decided that a AAA membership will be a cheaper alternative when the time comes to replace them.

The run flats on our coupe only lasted only 24k miles and are a lot more expensive than regular tires. I changed to regular ones and also believe it improved the ride comfort.

I don't know. I was as surprised as you are. The car is not driven hard or fast... Not sure if its true but I was told (Mercedes service center) that run flats don't last as long as regular ones.
(May be my wife does funny things with it when she is alone??)

I just got my daughter a GLA 250 and it is equipped with run flat tires.  For me this good and one less thing to worry about when she's out driving.

Run over a nail and guess what... a new tire at triple the price! They say you can drive them 50 miles on them without air....total bull. They won't withstand that and a new rim would probably be in order.

I must admit I’m a fan. Yes the noise level is high, but then again, as mentioned previously, with rubber band width tyres I wouldn’t expect anything less. I am aware of someone I knew continuing to drive his ‘punctured’ run flat at 60mph without issue for 30 miles (not in one go) before he decided to get it replaced.

At the end of the day it is a personal preference at the end of the day. With the dodgy roads in the UK,  I feel better to have run flats.

For a little over a year we had a Z4 and the consensus on the relevant forums was, ditch the runflats. Our used Z4 did not have them when we got it and when we replaced the tires I sure did not go looking for a set of runflats.

I agree on the noise and hard ride.  I had run flats on both my BMWs, E90 and E92.  Now on normal radial tires. 

Regarding driving without air, I did in fact have a blowout (driver side rear) at speed, at night, on a freeway with the E90.  I coasted to a stop and surveyed the situation and decided to try to drive the 30+ miles home.  I arrived safely and the next morning drove to a tire shop for replacement. I will stick with normal radials.

One distinct advantage of AAA here in SO CAL is they provide many of the same services the DMV does. So now, where a simple task might have taken me 3-4 hours at the DMV, I can have it taken care of in 30 minutes at AAA. Only reason I joined really, since my insurance (GEICO) also includes free towing.

Mike, they may provide free towing but how far?  Keep in mind they also provide battery replacement, bring you gas if you run out, etc.  I have been a CAA member since I bought my Pagoda in '09.  My local region is unique I think in Canada in that my membership (Premier) allows for free towing up to 500km.  Very handy if you have multiple cars.
