Silvretta Classic Rally
« on: July 04, 2021, 07:48:02 »
They got the Hochalpenstrasse open a few weeks late, after record snowfall this winter.  Yesterday dawned gorgeous and cool for the departure at Partenen.   8)  It was a very subdued affair compared to previous years; last year, of course, it was cancelled.  This year far fewer spectators turned up, and the vast majority of the competitors were German.  You could take a zeppelin ride to see the valley, departing from Friedrichshafen across the lake, but by the time they got here it was hazy and the cars were long gone.  (Maybe they didn't realise that yesterday was a short course.)  There were a few Pagodas and other Mercs; nothing knocked our socks off.  Driving the Interceptor, we tailed the silver one down to his turnoff for one of the road challenges.  Let's hope next year is a little more lively!
