California Summer
« on: August 05, 2021, 21:14:12 »
Been miserable here in CA this summer and there has not been too many opportunities for top down drives especially with so many fires burning. This satellite image of northern California was taken yesterday and the white dot is approximately where we live. I know there are members to the north and can only hope they are OK. Winds are going to shift tonight and will be bringing all that smoke to the south. Record heat and a record drought make for record number of fires already.

Hi Ed,
I’ve been thinking about you!   I have other friends who live in Auburn, Grass Valley and Placerville.  It’s not a good situation and this is only the beginning of August.  Last years fires produced smoke that chocked out the Bay Area.  My yard was covered in ash as the fires raged over two hours away. The smoke was so thick it appeared to be late dusk all day long.  We were told to shelter in place because of the poor air quality   It really seemed like the apocalypse!

I put up my friend from Pt. Reyes Station who was under evacuation orders twice in one month.  She stayed in an in-law apartment above my garage.  If you have to evacuate, the same apartment is open for you and your wife at a moment’s notice.  We all have to stick together.

On a brighter note, I just returned from Sonoma today where I saw my dad and celebrated his 101st birthday!

Hello John,
looking at yesterday's destruction of Greenville only about 150 miles north of you I would be more than worried.
Stay alert and safe!
