Air filter housing
« on: September 19, 2021, 15:11:23 »
Hi question
SL 230…early 1964
I’ve just removed my air filter housing…
A few bits of advice…firstly…can you still get the rubber gasket for the rim?
Secondly….I’ve discovered rust…it has eroded away in places…,see pics, ideas on how to restore it please?
Thirdly…apart from the hose, is there anything else to be fitted to it? Ie a plastic inlet or some such, there is nothing there apart from the housing itself when removed? ( apart from an assembly of bolts and washers that somebody dropped and was too lazy to fish out)..

Sorry for all the messages …I don’t know how to attach more than one photo at a time….

The seal for rim as well all the rubber mounts are available from SLS and likely others. As far as the housing itself, sand or bead blast it first, cut out the bad metal and weld in new. I believe the sedan filter housings are the same and you may also choose the find one out of a donor car.
