AJ headlight assembly wanted
« on: October 07, 2021, 16:24:58 »
I'm looking for a AJ headlight assembly for a 280SL. I had one NOS unit so I need something that would be extra clean if it's a used part.

Some poor soul, who is not very technical and/or versed in the "abbreviation code language" of the pros, may have one lying around. Too bad, he doesn't know what an "AJ headlight" is. 8)

OK, it's for a 280SL. But then I repeat myself.

Still curious what "AJ" stands for. Maybe I am just too thick....

Naaa, cumon.... You're just too tired perhaps - too much work lately.... ;) :D

Hallo Michael,

Nothing easier than that. And since you've been a long-term full member here,
you surely already know about this content. ;)

https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/USLamp

In summary, there are three different styles of US-sealed beam headlights available,
depending on age (or built range) or our cars:

AC early  (230 SL up to 280 SL early)
AN middle (only mid-280 SLs)
and
AJ - the late ones (late 280 SLs), the 'large-orange-section' ones

Achim
(no AC's anymore, only non-US (alas European) headlights in my collection)
