Leather covered steering Wheel
« on: October 08, 2021, 08:49:43 »
I have never rely liked the feel of the standard Steering wheel, but the look is very nice.
I have tried to get hold of a leather wrap but for below $100 including shipment has been impossible so I decided to to some leather work by myself and I’m very pleased by the result. I bought an aftermarket perforated genuine leather cover, separated the leather from the foam backing so I got the bare leather, after this I splitted the with in the middle so I got the correct with for the wheel diameter. As it is to short I had to add a peace so the st. wheel got two splits in the lower part of the st. wheel. It was very easy to do the sewing on the perforated leather and the finish and feel is perfect for me and to a third of the cost.
Some heat treatment to get rid if som shrinkles will be next step.
