Electrical Connection for Later Clock
« on: December 02, 2021, 00:53:04 »
My car has the four prong connector for the the clock but the only clock I have is the later one with the spade connector. I have tested it and it works. For those who have gone this route, how did you wire the clock to the four prong connector. I do have some male metal connectors as well as 4 prong male connectors.

I am thinking connecting a four prong male connector to the car's female connector and from there taking the pos to the spade connector, the neg to one of the threaded screws that attaches the plastic body to the clock.  Has anyone found a better way to do this?

Going this route unless someone knows a source for the correct clock that is in working condition and doesn't cost a small fortune!

Thanks in advance,  Lee

Dear Lee

Your solution for that is a good approach.  In that way the original harness remains unaltered, and you have the possibility of fitting the right type of clock in place in the future.

Use as you mention a male 4 plug connector to fit your existing female 4 prong connector on cars original harness, from that interphase make a cable extension that connects to new clock via spade female terminals, providing the positive signals.  Ground via a “0” type connector to one of the fixing screws.

Ps I have seen on eBay some reproduction clocks for pagoda listed at usd 125, no5 so expensive as the original.
