280SL- M130 engine in late version

Hello evrybody!
I have a question, that I couldn't find an answer to both in Engelen's book and here on the forum.
From which 280SL chassis number the M130 engine was mounted in the late version?

Seb - I don't understand the question.

"..M130 engine was mounted in the late version" Are you asking about a late version of the engine, a late version of the car?

I will check the M130 engine book, to see if it has any additional information and will amend this post if I find anything.

we have to early version of the M130 engine and the late. My friend asked me from each 280SL car number was mounted the late version? I think the change was about 1970, but I could not find it in Engelen book.

Change was in June/July of 1969. Slightly different for auto and standard trans cars probably due to what they had in stock on the line.

Frankly, I think there was also a change in the compression ratio, which was never made official or public. Many "late" heads do not show the compression ratio anymore, but some, for some markets do. The head on my car shows 9.0:1 instead of 9.3:1.
There was a "low compression" option, which my car does not have. It is a regular German spec car, built in late November 1970.

Different combustion chamber shape, longer head bolts, extra cooling passages in the block and head, different cam shaft and bearings, TTS and temp gauge probe moved to the back of the head. There were other smaller modifications made but those would be most of the more easily seen changes.

Gentlemen, thank you for all the comments, I finally found also the accurate information, so in the case of
M130.983-10-005301,
and in the case of
M130.983-12-008784
these were early versions. All numbers above were the late version.

Buying a head gasket, or at least looking at the packages will shed light on this. They give the cut-off for the different designs of combustion chambers by VIN number
