Air box
« on: July 11, 2022, 12:07:26 »
Howdy all,

Does anyone know the purpose of these two things that are on either side of the air box?

My car is RHD.

On de LHD there is only one and it’s on the right side to connect the wires to the glove compartment switch/light.

Oh ok thanks Peter, maybe the holes were predrilled in both sides, do you have a connector going into it ?

Connector on the right and as far as I remember I have no pre-drilled holes on the left.

Hi. As stated by others, it is a junction for glove box wiring on RHD cars.

Thanks Ben that pic is most helpful. So we have +/- supply terminated on the block and then off to the glovebox on/off ? Is there a combined 4 wires on the block (bit hard to see)? And do you have another on the driver's side in exact same location? On mine I cannot see any bare wire supply so need to figure out what's going on there....I'll also recheck the wiring diagram

I can provide an accurate answer/description if still needed when my car comes back from the painter (should be this week). Yes, there are several convergent wires that are hard to see in the photo, however, I don't recall there being much complexity to the reconnection. Don't remember anything on the drivers side of the air distribution box. If the wire colour coding is not preserved or missing in your vehicle then it could be a little trickier.

Cheers

Thankyou Ben thats very kind.  I've figured it out though. I found the 2 "loose wires" red/green/white and brown that are for the glovebox light. Previous owner had run them directly to the glovebox is my deduction.
