MB tex
« on: July 19, 2022, 21:58:34 »
Hi!
My seats (black MB tex) need to be restored .
Unfortunately, as MB tex kits are common in the US, they seem difficult to find here in europe, unlike leather.
Ordering from California (i.e. World upholstery) could be an option, but shipping +tax would cost me an arm and a leg I’m afraid…
Would you recommand some good supplier in EU?
Thanks a lot

I think that KHM in Germany might be the right people to assist

Thanks for the link.
I've been there before, but they offer only leather... and I'd like to keep my seats as original as possible. Will nobody in europe sell MB tex anymore?
The -slightly- cheapest options come from ebay; and guess where the seat kits come from...? California, of course!

After some search in this forum, it appears that european suppliers for MB tex covers are out of business for long...
and that the only solution comes from the new World.
Which one would you recommand? GAT, World Upholstery, GAHH...?
Could a good upholsterer repair the covers if I can supply MB tex from this site https://tissens.com/?
I should maybe chose a more radical approach and go for a complete change of the covers; repairing the old material might only solve the problem for a while, but tears mean it's probably worn out...What do you think?

Do not kill yourself looking for MB tex.  Their is only one factory that makes the raw sheet of material it and it's very well kept secret. They sell the same MB tex to a wholesaler who sells it to the GAHH, World, Buds,,, they then have it embossed, sown, cut,,, and that is where the difference is not in the actual raw material or thickness. Also MB tex of today is not the exactly the same as original.

Simply is not enough demand to have several factories making MB tex, the economics do not make sense.
