Front Grill material

Hello,

Does anyone know from what material the original front grill is made? I recently bought 250SL year 1968 and I'm trying to figure out do I have original grill or aftermarket. Since there is no Mercedes markings, nor part number, the material it is made from seams to be the only way to figure out is it original or not.

I think the main outer shell is brass as well as the left and right arms. The star and barrel are die cast or pot metal.
