Is the area above the green arrow chrome plated?

How do you remove rod 5 connection to 4

Thank you. I see we both use paper towels to layout our parts.

My lever did not have the plastic ring. What is for?

I have the hand brake all apart. It was a struggle to get the rod disconnected. Is there a specific way to reassemble the rod and ratchet shoe with the cotter pin and then insert the assembled rod back into the hand break?

I solved the mystery by removing #9 stuck in the handle.
