Last Saturday I participated in the local MBCA group Winter Run. This is a “rain or shine” event held each January. We were fortunate to have fantastic sunny weather this year for the approximate 175 mile run. From the Birmingham suburbs we took scenic roads to the Motorsports Hall of Fame near the Talledega Speedway where we took a short break.
The second leg was a spirited run up and over Cheaha Mountain, the highest mountain in Alabama (2,400 ft), ending up in Anniston, AL in early afternoon. With little traffic on a cool Saturday morning, the steep slopes both up and down and the variety of curves encountered guaranteed a highly enjoyable drive. It was a fitting start to the year we are celebrating the Pagoda’s 60th anniversary and I am celebrating 54 years of enjoyment from my Pagoda.
