Here is the abbreviated, free-format English translation of Zwoachtzig's (280's) post:

"Hallo,

Today, at an oldtimer event here in Germany, I happened upon the very first Pagoda.

The current owner bought it in 1992 when it was in pretty bad shape, and restored it during the next four years. He painted it blue, which is not the original (050), lackluster color.

This is the car that, in 1963, was in the Geneva car show, at which the W113 was presented to The World ...

Mmmmm incorrect tail lights !!

Didn't someone post a chassis number recently for what they thought was No.1 .......I recall it had a peculiar number that didn't follow the usual format that we are used to...........is this it !

Ben - what was posted here recently was about a pre-production car that supposedly should have never been sold to the public but in fact was (in the US). The whole thing seemed authentic enough.

Hi Guys,
Since we are on this subject and I see that interestingly enough there was a mention of the Geneva Autoshow I would like to share that I have been told that my car was there aswell...Maybe.  I have a very early 230 SL.  It came with a copper poly colour (DB 463H) and I was told that although the colour was on the MB palette, that is was still a special order colour.  Also mine had a factory power/hydraulic steering which did not showup on these cars till 1966 adn since mine did come with one, I was told that either this car was at the Paris/Geneva Autoshow or it was specially commissioned for some one.  I don't know what which one but just wanted to share that info with you guys.  Please do give some feed back.  My chasis number is 113 042 10 00166
Regards,
Hassan

I believe the power steering you mention was an option from day one ! It is certainly mentioned in the original owners manual in my '64 230 SL !

Any photos of the colour ?  Sounds very interesting !
