280SL proper height

I was looking at vintage pictures of my fathers 1968 280SL when it was brand new. A picture with him possing beside the car I noticed a lot of clearance between the wheel well and the fender. Can some some elabrate what was the knowen height when these cars were new.

I had put John Olson's  progressive rate springs in and guffed on the front spring pads 25 mm instead of what came out 30.2mm . I measured the ground clearnce from both the center of the hub cao to the topp of the weel arch and ground. 25mm to 26mm. with stock springs. because of the dips and pot holes in streets I wanted to raise the car a bit heigher. I put in new bilstein shocks and I am running 185 R 14  michelin rainforce tires. The bushing are all new in the front and rear including the small donut bushing.

can I get somme feed back or old email to figure out what to do and not do. Since I will not be doing the work my self I need to tell the Mercedes-Benz guru what I want.
