Rear horseshoe chrome trim
« on: July 28, 2023, 06:55:49 »
Can someone enlighten me as to how this chrome trim attaches please?
Does it just push on?

:) I built HMS Victory years ago.... I have a picture of Royal Sovereign at hand. You also see the stern of HMS Bounty.

I have my “horseshoe chrome trim” off my car for polishing.  What I thought might have been pitting was just crud that had built up over the years. They look gorgeous after a little work.   For the heck of it, I looked them up on Authentic to see if they were available.  I was shocked to find each section listed at just a few dollars shy of $1000! $2000 for the set!   (This is not that a typo either.)

As for Pawel’s model ship: Unbelievable! Such beautiful detail especially those riggings which must have taken forever to construct.  Your talent never ceases to amaze me.

They are NLA at Mercedes, but about EUR 280 at SLS or Niemoeller, so a bit better probably when shipped to the US.

P.S.
Thank you! The rigging is based on a book on rigging of English men of war I bought in the Maritime Museum in Greenwhich in London, years ago...

I now have the clips to secure the trim.. 12 in total.. is there a formula for placing them or is it just common sense?

Hi
I’m still needing to know which way around the clips go to secure the chrome trim.. it’s not obvious it appears..
Thank you

Panel,

Youre extremely helpful, but at some point it is more helpful to teach a man to fish.  Share the Search terms instead of the results.

Pawel and all
Thank you once again for all your help and guidance.. I think I now know how they fit( although the pictures in the links are rather blurred) I hoping when I get to actually fitting the trim it becomes more obvious.. with the clips being “barbed” I have a feeling that once you install,if it’s wrong, you might have a problem getting them off again.. measure three times, cut once..  it costs nothing to ask..
