Tool kit question

Is the tool kit from a 230 the same as what came on the 230SL?

This has some of the correct parts but is missing a spanner, a pair Heyco 300 slip joint pliers, the screwdriver should be a wooden handle(not plastic),  the tire positioning tool, the fuse puller pliers, and finally you have the incorrect tool roll.  I think what you have is from a later model. 
Check out the tech manual and you’ll find some illustrations that should be helpful.

Most of your missing parts are readily available (eBay) except the slip joint pliers.  There’s a fellow in Oregon who makes reproduction tool rolls that are impossible to tell from OEM ones…except they’re new!

Nice job responding Len,

the kit looks pretty beat up.  depends how much you want originality.  early on, i bought a repro bag, but it looked too repro if you know what i mean.  now I have 9 or so original kits.  if you hunt enough you can find a nice almost pristine kit for a grand or less.

OCD medication included in the fuse box.

I know what you mean about most repro tol kit bag.  I’m an OCD person too.  But I store my original bag at home for safe keeping and use the repro for the car just in case I ever need to use it. 
Here’s some comparison pix. It’s pretty obvious the original is the grey one.

Not part of the original tool kit I know. However, for any of you who like to carry oil with you when undertaking a grand tour, I have found a 1 litre oil bottle sits rather nicely into a WWII British army ammo pouch 😁

Those are slipjoint or water pump pliers. Heyco 300. They have a three pointed star embossed in them. I believe the elongated head is for 280 while the squarer jaw was used with 230 and 250 tool kits. 

Mike Mizesko is the acknowledged guru when it comes to these tool kits and what is correct and what isn’t.

Correctamundo Len....

Funny thing was that the 190SL and 330SL Walter pliers had oval jaws.  I think Heyco did the early 230/250SL jaws in the diamond to be different from the old Walter ones, but switched back in the late 60's 280SL's for some reason.  Maybe tooling or machining costs...or maybe they worked better. lol.
