Hello Cole, what model pump do you have?, it's stamped on the plate on the pump

I think there will be a dipstick, look at my earlier photo, and follow the yellow dots
.. is not easy to find, hence I painted it yellow
It is low down .

Yes, the dip stick is a PITA to get to and use.

Did you know you can search our site specifically using Google?  I "image search" with Google using search strings like this - "bosch R11 fuel injection pump dip stick site:www.sl113.org"

Did you pump get serviced over last winter?  Full rebuild or just select parts replaced?  Does the oil level stay as it should?

Hi guys,

I had the fuel injection pump removed yesterday from my '67 250SL and am considering having it serviced/rebuilt.
Can anyone recommend a good, reliable shop that does this, preferably in So. Calif. But will consider elsewhere if necessary.
Also, does anyone know if Bosch services/rebuilds these older pumps?
If so, can you reply with their contact info?

I used this guy. He not only rebuilt my pump with new seals, he also calibrated it with Bosch calibration equipment from the 1960's era.
My car had never run better because it was running too rich for quite a few years. He has parts for these old pumps.

As many of you have indicated in this thread, if the injection pump hasn't been rebuilt/thoroughly cleaned for many years and it's leaking or not functioning up to par, just get it done.
Many thanks to you and all the others here who gave me a lot of helpful feedback regarding this fuel pump's issues.

No, I decided to wait as the car runs well, I have put my time in replacing bushings in the front section, coming winter I’ll do the rear end bushings and gearbox change to 5-speed Getrag 265/6. But as soon as I get problem with the Injection system I’ll have the FIP serviced.
