Body check points
« on: September 14, 2023, 21:17:33 »
Hello everyone!
I'm taking back my '64 230SL, after finishing the engine last spring. I am focusing now on the body work starting with checking the points. I have a doubt when measuring the front part, since I have a crease on the left side and I don't know where I should measure this point. I am surprised not to have found any type of debate on this topic, so important for our proper management of our Pagodas. I hope your help.

Here are some final photos of the engine.

Best regards

That measurements document is really neat!  The hard part of making those measurements is that you have to extend imaginary lines from physical points and measure between those imaginary lines!  When you're measuring millimeters, it's tough to be exact in placement of imaginary lines. I hope you find a solution.  If the car is movable (on wheels), maybe have it towed to a collision body shop and have them put it on a measurement rack.

GEAR BOX!

Dip stick filter part should be painted black with the handle in red. I use green etching primer for the standard transmission case. It's very close to the original colour and may in fact be primer.

Nice job on detail - you have things close to correct.
