W111 seat rail chrome
« on: February 14, 2024, 09:36:08 »
I think this chrome is held in place with a spring or cable (part 111 910 50 64). I can't find a picture of it or how it's supposed to hold the chrome trim. Anyone know how it goes on?
Thanks!

I think they slide on to the rails.

Some idea how it looked attached, number 418 on the drawing. Part name is: holding cable (Niemoeller) or Pull (Mercedes).

Yes, what keeps the trim in tension is indeed (2) small wire hooks and a long rubber band. Most assemblies are long gone because the rubber band deteriorates and the hooks fall off. I found one from Mercedes Classic center many years ago. It is indeed 111 910 50 64. I replaced the band with a UV resistant rubber band so it might last. One hook fits in a small outward facing hole on the sliding trim. And one hook fits in a outward facing hole in the seat frame. Sorry, no pics.

There is a photo on this thread.

I used springs so there's nothing to deteriorate (and I don't have rubber bands handy). 15 cm unstreatched. Need to be able to go to about 30 cm when stretched.

Well there you go. I had forgotten about that thread. I knew I had been down that road before. I am admittedly not a good searcher on forums. It seems to require a certain strategy about the key words you use and I don't excel at that. Good job finding it.
