I agree. But so does the 190 and 300SL's.

The 300 SL Coupe did not have a horn ring, the horn was actuated by pressing a button at the steering wheel hub. The round horn ring was introduced with the 300 SL Roadster and does not create a serious impediment to viewing the instruments.

As near as I can determine, it depends on your engine number.

Engines through 14471 had a two-piece pipe connected by hose. There were two versions.  Engines 14472 and onward had a single-piece pipe which was also used on the 250sl.

It looks like you went to the newer one-piece metal valve cover breather pipe that connects to the side of the throttle body.  Maybe I read the post wrong?

No, when I changed out the later throttle body for the correct earlier one, I changed to the earliest breather pipe, which still the TB side of a two-piece setup.
