steering box seal replacement_my two cents
« on: April 13, 2024, 01:12:20 »
Hello All,

YES - - I know there are already about a hundred posts about this job, but my photo set might help and encourage someone who is unsure
about how difficult it might be.

You will only need two special tools: a good quality set of snap ring pliers and a Pitman Arm puller. The steering linkages do not have to be disconnected (just brute force them out of the way).

I removed the old seal with the cover clamped in my bench vise. However, it's easier to install the seal after the cover is back in place because you
can slide it right down the shaft. It is a force-fit so it will require some tapping into place  to seat it completely.

There are four more photos in a follow-on post.

Hope this helps somebody,
