Help needed please
« on: April 13, 2024, 11:03:11 »
Having stripped the throttle control rod that crosses the engine after a someone had painted it black and started the process of trying to rebuild it I now realise looking closely at the two arms one is slightly larger than the other and even after taking what we thought were lots of photos we can’t quite work which one goes on what side.
I have the part numbers but am struggling to find a reference.
027 073 08. 21 is the larger one and 127 073 07 21 is the smaller one just need to know which one goes injection pump side.
Also  am I correct in thinking that we are going to need  a press to get these back.

Thanks in advance for any help and guidance
.

Gary,

Because the car is a Right Hand Drive, the arms are reversed from the North American production.

I'm really kidding.  I have no idea. Sorry for being such a "Wanker". I'm sure Colin will know.

You definitely want to make sure to put them back in the right places. Sorry don't have my Pagoda nearby to measure which goes on which end. I don't believe you need a press to re-assemble.

I think the even number 08 means right side and the odd number 07 means left (injection pump) side.
I'm sure someone will measure soon and let you know.

Hi Gary,
On my 1966 230SL, the longer one goes to the injector pump.

Hope this helps.
Happy motoring.

This is my lever for the injection pump (280 early). But there are different versions.  It is difficult to assemble the lever after galvanizing, removing some material from the inside should help.

The EPC shows various part numbers for the shaft/lever assembly, but none for the levers.

On my 1963 230sl, the longer lever lever is on the pump side.

Cheers,
